BGSA Friends Groups Breakfast
Supporting Brookline’s park Friends groups is one of the major purposes of the BGSA. Friends groups are invited to send one or two representatives to the September 18 breakfast that the BGSA is hosting in Town Hall.
Every park, playground, and open space is different, and there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to organizing and running a Friends group. Some groups are more active than others, depending on the needs of the park, playground, or sanctuary. The BGSA stands ready to support your organization in whatever way is most helpful.
BGSA offers small Park Improvement Program grants to Friends group. Applications for the fall 2023 cycle are due on September 15. In addition, the BGSA, as a nonprofit organization, can serve as a fiscal sponsor for Friends groups. More information here.
On Monday, September 18, from 8:30–10:00 a.m. in Brookline Town Hall room 103, the BGSA will host a breakfast meeting that will bring representatives of Friends groups together with key staff from the Town’s Parks and Open Space Division. This meeting will give each Friends group an opportunity to share an update on its activities and concerns, and to learn more about the Town’s plans for parks and open space. Our speaker is Alexandra Vecchio, Director of the Parks and Open Space Division.
Up to two representatives from each Friends group are invited to the September 18 breakfast. Please send an email to info@brooklinegreenspace.org to let us know who will be attending from your group.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Sean M. Lynn-Jones
